The neighborhood art show is back and I’m excited to show my work in the garden setting. I’ll be showing smaller works because my large paintings are in Madison, Georgia at the Places Far and Near Show. Artist and friend Hanna Marx is the organizer this year for the garden show.

Sketching at SCAD
I spent some time drawing in the SCAD Fashion museum in Atlanta and on the 5th floor deck overlooking midtown. The exhibit was draped clothing. It was interesting seeing all the different examples of draping fashion. I used a water soluble pencil in the galleries and then added watercolor afterwards. For the city view IContinue reading “Sketching at SCAD”
Holiday Art Show
We’re all busy at the studio working on things for our next open studio in December. I’m using the next few weeks to complete both oil and watercolor pieces, frame works and just get everything looking good. We’re open for two days this year to keep it more manageable with crowds. I will have worksContinue reading “Holiday Art Show”
The Falling Leaves
…drift by the window I look forward to autumn for many reasons but one of them is looking closely at the fallen leaves. The variety of color, line and pattern never get old. Each leaf is unique and amazing. I enjoy trying to capture the exact colors and markings on a fallen leaf. I placedContinue reading “The Falling Leaves”
Vegetables from the garden
Overall my vegetable garden was average this year. However, I really got a bumper crop of squash. I didn’t plant them but they came up and just took over a lot of real estate. They seemed to be a hybrid winter squash of butternut and delicata. I’m enjoying painting all of the variations and patterns.Continue reading “Vegetables from the garden”

Works on paper ready for frames
These are some works that I recently matted. They are all in 11″ x 14″ mats which fit into a standard frame. Instant original art! I work out ideas and experiment with materials on watercolor or drawing paper. I will give you a good deal if you are looking for art for yourself or aContinue reading “Works on paper ready for frames”
Botanicals
As I walk my neighborhood in the fall I always collect leaves that catch my eye. This year I picked up some of the ones with brilliant red and orange colors but I noticed even the more mundane or muted leaves had incredible details. This lead to a series I call leaf portraits. Each paintingContinue reading “Botanicals”
Postcards from Ireland
I spent two weeks in Ireland in August. I’m sharing watercolor sketches made while there and since I’ve been back. These are all 4″x 6″
New Work Using Ink
I’m using Sumi Ink and watercolor to make these designs and serendipitous images.
Portland Waterfront
I sat on the dock attempted to draw this scene in about 30 minutes or so. I was attracted to the vivid colors of the buildings, water and boats and the variety of architectural elements so close together. I completed this work at home using a few photo references. It would not have been possibleContinue reading “Portland Waterfront”
Wharf Drawings
These two works were done primarily from life but also touched up back in the studio. I did the wharf picture on site using colored pencil and watercolor. I redrew it on toned paper that night, using my sketch and photo references. I was really interested in getting the geometry of the buildings and theContinue reading “Wharf Drawings”
